Oliveira,P.T.L.; Amaro,A.L.N.; Yanagi Júnior,T.; Ferraz,G.A.S.; Yanagi,S.N.M..
ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to establish the bioclimatic zoning by the temperature and humidity index (THI), considering a historical period and a future scenario, in order to represent the thermal environment for broiler breeding in the State of Minas Gerais. A historical series (1976 - 2014) of THI minimum, average and maximum calculated based on data from 48 conventional meteorological stations was used, belonging to the National Institute of Meteorology of the State of Minas Gerais. The analysis of the temporal series was based on the Mann-Kendall test and linear regression. A geostatistical analysis was also carried out to determine the comfort zoning of broilers as a function of the THI intervals. In this way, the THI spatial...

Trautenmüller,H; Broch,J; Pires Filho,IC; Silva,IM; Frank,R; Schöne,RA; Carvalho,PLO; Eyng,C; Nunes,RV.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the energetic values of dry residue of cassava (DRC) and the effects of its inclusion in broiler diets on performance, intestinal morphometry, protein and fat deposition rate, and carcass and cut yields. In experiment I, two metabolism trials were carried out from 11-21 and from 31-41 days of age. The birds were distributed in a completely randomized design and DRC was included at levels of 10, 20, 30 and 40% in the basal diet. In experiment II, 980 male chicks were distributed in a completely randomized design with seven treatments (0; 2; 4; 6; 8; 10; 12% DRC) and seven replicates. DRC levels did not influence (p>0.05) the energetic values. From days 1-7, weight gain (WG) had a linear adjustment, and...

Increased metabolisable energy from glycerine or soybean oil in broilers Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Merval,Ramon Rêgo; Dourado,Leilane Rocha Barros; Silva,Flávio Ferreira; Santos,Edna Teles dos; Lopes,João Batista.
ABSTRACT The effect of increased levels of metabolisable energy with glycerine or soybean oil was evaluated in the performance of broilers at four growth stages (1 to 7, 8 to 21, 22 to 33 and 34 to 42 days), in addition to the carcass and cut yield. A total of 2,400 birds were used in a completely randomised design in a 2 x 4 factorial scheme (two sources x four energy levels), with five replications. The treatments were determined by including glycerine or soybean oil at intervals of 75 kcal/kg of metabolisable energy in the diet: the first level with 75 kcal less than the requirement, the second corresponding to the requirement for each stage (2925, 2980, 3050 and 3100 Kcal), and the third and fourth levels with 75 kcal and 150 kcal more than the...

Mortality prediction of laying hens due to heat waves Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Riquena,Rodrigo da Silva; Pereira,Danilo Florentino; Vale,Marcos Martinez do; Salgado,Douglas D'Alessandro.
ABSTRACT Mortality in the production of laying hens is a concern for producers and constitutes a considerable economic loss. Some climatic events, such as heat waves, are directly related to the mortality increasing. The aim of this study was to relate the occurrence of heat waves with laying hens mortality, considering the effect of two different kinds of shed used in egg production. Daily mortality data were obtained from two aviaries located in the city of Bastos-SP for the period of October 2014 to January 2016. The data about the climate were gotten from two meteorological stations located in the cities of Tupã-SP and Rancharia-SP, Brazil, from 2010 to 2015. The heat waves were classified in the climatic database using different definitions...

NEURO-FUZZY MODELING OF EYEBALL AND CREST TEMPERATURES IN EGG-LAYING HENS REA
Lins,Ana C. de S. S.; Lourençoni,Dian; Yanagi Júnior,Tadayuki; Miranda,Isadora B.; Santos,Italo E. dos A..
ABSTRACT Considering the challenges faced by poultry farming, this study aimed to develop a neuro-fuzzy model to predict eyeball and crest temperatures of egg-laying hens based on environmental conditions (dry bulb temperature and relative humidity). To develop the models and simulations, Matlab’s Fuzzy Toolbox® (Anfisedit) was used. Different configurations were used for each of the several neuro-fuzzy models developed. Eyeball temperature (ET) and chicken crest temperature (CCT) were simulated from the developed neuro-fuzzy models, and the obtained results were validated with the variables collected experimentally with the aid of recorder sensors and an infrared thermographic camera. The proposed neuro-fuzzy models allow the accurate estimation of ET and...

PERTINENCE CURVES IN FUZZY MODELING OF THE PRODUCTIVE RESPONSES OF BROILERS REA
Lourençoni,Dian; Abreu,Paulo G. de; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Campos,Alessandro T.; Yanagi,Silvia de N. M..
ABSTRACT The selection of the type of fuzzy systems pertinence curve allows a better representation of the mathematical model and a smaller simulation error. We aimed to study the effect of pertinence curves in fuzzy modeling of broiler performance, created in different production systems. For the development and testing of fuzzy models, three commercial aviaries (conventional, tunnel with negative pressure, and dark house) were evaluated over one year, totaling six lots per system. For the development of the model, the input variables were enthalpy in each rearing phase (initial: phases 1, 2, and 3; growth: phase 4; and final: phase 5) and the output variables were feed intake (FE), weight gain (GP), feed conversion (FE), and the productive efficiency...

PRODUCTIVE RESPONSES FROM BROILER CHICKENS RAISED IN DIFFERENT COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS - PART I: FUZZY MODELING REA
Lourençoni,Dian; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Abreu,Paulo G. de; Campos,Alessandro T.; Yanagi,Silvia de N. M..
ABSTRACT Broiler chickens are classified as homoeothermic animals and require a production environment within well-defined thermal comfort intervals. Therefore, the development of algorithms (mathematical models) to control the environment that can be embedded in microcontrollers becomes necessary. Hence, this work aimed to develop a fuzzy model for predicting the productive performance of broiler chickens as a function of the thermal environment during the various breeding phases. The Mamdani inference and defuzzification methods were used, by means of the gravity center, to develop the fuzzy model. Two hundred and forty-three rules with weighting factors of 1.0 each were elaborated. Three commercial warehouses (conventional system, wind tunnel with...

Spatial variability of enthalpy in broiler house during the heating phase AGRIAMBI
Ferraz,Patrícia F. P.; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Ferraz,Gabriel A. e S.; Schiassi,Leonardo; Campos,Alessandro T..
ABSTRACT The thermal environment inside a broiler house has a great influence on animal welfare and productivity during the production phase. Enthalpy is a thermodynamic property that has been proposed to evaluate the internal broiler house environment, for being an indicator of the amount of energy contained in a mixture of water vapor and dry air. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize the spatial variability of enthalpy in a broiler house during the heating phase using geostatistics. The experiment was conducted in the spring season, in a commercial broiler house with heating system consisting of two furnaces that heat the air indirectly, in the first 14 days of the birds' life. It was possible to characterize enthalpy variability using...

Technical-economic analysis of different lighting systems for broiler poultry REA
Ribeiro,Priscilla A. P.; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Silva,Joaquim P. da; Yanagi,Sílvia de N. M; Campos,Renato S..
ABSTRACT Broiler poultry is highly dependent on artificial lightening. Power consumption costs of artificial lighting systems is the second largest expense related to broiler industry, second only to feed expenses. Therefore, the current study focused to analyze technical and economic feasibility of replacing incandescent lamps already used in aviaries with other lamp types. Costs related to power consumption, implementation and maintenance of the lighting systems were evaluated with the aid of financial mathematics using net present value, return over investment and payback. Systems composed of six lamp types were analyzed in two different configurations to meet the minimum illuminance of 5 and 20 lux and for use in conventional sheds and dark house. The...

Transport of broilers: load microclimate during Brazilian summer REA
Barbosa Filho,José A. D.; Queiroz,Marília L. V.; Brasil,Daniel de F.; Vieira,Frederico M. C.; Silva,Iran J. O..
The objective of this study was to characterize the microclimatic profile of broiler transport trucks under commercial conditions, in the summer, by continuous monitoring of environmental variables (temperature and air relative humidity). Three loads were monitored from farm to slaughterhouse, considering factors such as distance and day periods (morning, afternoon, and night). To obtain the profile of the environmental variables during journey, data loggers, that determined the microclimate to which birds were submitted, were installed in the trucks; data loggers also allowed visualization of the Enthalpy Comfort Index (ECI) so that load regions could be classified according to heat comfort limits for 6-week old poultries. Temperature, relative humidity,...

USE OF PROTECTION SCREEN IN CONVENTIONAL AVIARIES (CALIFORNIAN TYPE) FOR LAYING HENS REA
Lourençoni,Dian; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Oliveira,Daniela D. de; Lima,Renato R. de; Pena,Mariela R. da S..
ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the thermal environment inside conventional cages for laying hens, with and without the use of protective screens. This research was conducted in two conventional cages (open cage), where each cage had half of its area surrounded by high density polyethylene mesh (HDPE) with a diameter of 2.0 cm, and the other half was kept fully open. Hyline W-36 and Dekalb Brown laying hens were housed in these cages. The wind speed, dry bulb temperature (tdb), black globe temperature, humidity index (BGHI), and enthalpy (H) were analyzed. The results indicate that the use of the screen reduced the wind speed inside the cage by 0.22 m s−1. The presence of the screen affected tdb, BGHI, and H in some of the evaluated...
